Where riders meet

Where do riders meet in Banff?

Every ride lists its exact pickup point and any stops before you book. These are the areas riders and drivers in Banff most often set as theirs.

  • Banff townsite
  • Canmore
  • Lake Louise

At pickup, the PIN and a shared pickup colour on both phones make it easy to find each other, and the live trip page lets someone at home follow along without the app.

Meet with a PIN, not a guess.

  • Pickup PIN. The driver enters your code at pickup, so the right person gets in the right car.

  • Pickup colour. Both phones show the same colour beacon while you find each other.

  • Live trip page. Share a link and anyone can follow the trip in a browser.

Full FAQ

How do I find a rideshare in Banff?

Open the Loop app, set Banff as your pickup or your destination, pick a date, and every ride posted for that day appears with its price, open seats and pickup point. Book instantly or request a seat, depending on how the driver set the ride, and pay in the app with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. If you are driving, post the ride you are already taking; that is how every city on Loop starts.

How much does a rideshare from Banff cost?

Drivers set their own seat price, and it is usually a fraction of what the trip costs to run. AB cost-sharing rules cap what a driver may collect (22¢ per km per seat is the ceiling, not the going rate), so a seat stays a share of the trip rather than a fare. Prices never surge, and the price you see is the price you pay in the app.

Are Loop drivers in Banff verified?

Yes. Drivers on Loop are ID and driver's licence verified. At pickup you confirm the ride with a PIN, both of you can follow live trip status, and you can share a live trip page with someone at home. Ratings are blind: neither side sees the other's rating until both are in. Women can also post women-only rides that only women can book, and Loop's servers enforce that rule.

Can I carpool with people from my campus or workplace in Banff?

Yes. Circles are Loop's communities for a campus, a city, a workplace or an interest. Join the Banff Circle or your campus Circle in the app, and the rides members post show up in the feed next to the events people are going to. Anyone can start a Circle, and no student email is required.
